What is hosting?
A house is not a home unless it is shared with love. When you decide to open your heart and home to a child who has lost everything, you have chosen to give a gift beyond measure. You do this by hosting a child or children in your home.
When you open your doors during either Christmas for four (4) weeks, or Summer for six (6) weeks, you provide an opportunity and experience to the child and your family that will last a lifetime. Contact us to learn more!
How Do I Get Started?
STEP 1: JOIN
Become an LFHO member. Once you’ve been approved, you will have access to our list of children.
STEP 2 : FIND A CHILD
Approved members may view photos and videos of the children.
STEP 3: APPLY
If the child is available, you can begin the application process. All family members are required to go through a background check and a home safety inspection will be conducted.
STEP 4: EDUCATION
Once you’ve passed your background checks, your family will be given resources to learn connected parenting techniques. We have translators available to assist. If there are any challenges, we will advise on proper strategies to remedy and ease any situation.
STEP 5 : HOSTING
When your wonderful day arrives, your child will meet you at a designated airport. A coordinator, as well as other host families, will be present to support you and ensure a smooth transition. When the time has ended, we will meet you at the airport where our team will escort the child back to Ukraine.
